Peptide protocols · Thymosin Alpha-1
Thymosin Alpha-1 — immune resilience peptide.
A naturally-occurring peptide produced by the thymus gland. Modulates the immune system rather than directly stimulating or suppressing it. Long clinical history outside the U.S.; FDA- recognized for compounded use in specific indications. Used at Vektor for immune resilience and post-viral recovery.
What it is
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide that the thymus gland produces naturally. It plays a role in T-cell maturation and overall immune system balance. Synthetic Tα1 has been used clinically outside the U.S. for decades — particularly for chronic hepatitis B/C and immune support in cancer patients.
In the U.S., Tα1 is available through 503A compounding for off-label use under physician supervision. It is not a stimulant of the immune system and not an immunosuppressant — it's a modulator, helping the immune system function appropriately.
How it works
Tα1 activates Toll-like receptors (TLR2, TLR9) on dendritic cells, modulates T-cell maturation and Th1/Th2 balance, and influences cytokine production. The net effect is a more appropriate immune response — improved function when the immune system is suppressed, more balanced response when it's dysregulated.
Who it's for
Thymosin Alpha-1 makes clinical sense for:
- Patients dealing with frequent illness or slow recovery from infections
- Post-viral recovery (post-COVID, post-EBV reactivation)
- Chronic immune dysregulation patterns
- Stress-driven immune suppression
Dosing and cadence
Typical clinical protocols: 1.6mg subcutaneous injection, twice weekly. Cycles vary by indication — 4–12 week courses are common. Some patients use ongoing low-dose maintenance.
What to expect
Patients dealing with post-viral fatigue typically report gradual improvement over 4–8 weeks. Frequency-of-illness reduction usually shows up over a 3–6 month period.
How Vektor handles it
Vektor prescribes Thymosin Alpha-1 through our 503A pharmacy partner — standard format is 5mg/mL in a 5mL vial. One vial covers approximately one month of standard dosing.

Frequently asked
- Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same as Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500)?
- No. Thymosin Alpha-1 modulates the immune system. Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500) is involved in tissue repair and is commonly paired with BPC-157 for systemic recovery protocols. Different peptides, different indications.
- Can Thymosin Alpha-1 be used long-term?
- Yes, with cycling. Most clinical protocols use 4–12 week courses with breaks; long-term continuous dosing is not typically recommended. Your physician will design cycle length based on indication.
